Encouraging Long-Life Learners in Virginia
Long-time VGG Member Dan Kistler has always been an an advocate for art education. At 90 years old, he is still active in the Glass art community, still taking classes and workshops, and still learning and creating new things every day. To celebrate Dan's 90th birthday, and his commitment to art education, the Virginia Glass Guild will be partnering with him to start The Kistler Project. The Project will focus on exposing Long-Life Learners to new glass art forms through classes and workshops. The Guild believes Dan is the perfect example that it is never too late to create, to learn, and to discover new things!
Virginia Glass Guild annually makes a Public Art Donation in the form of either a community displayed glass art work, art supplies or equipment to a teaching institution, or support for a glass art related lecture open to the general public. Members design, create and install all glass art donations involving many volunteer hours and donated materials.
