we give back to our community.
The Virginia Glass Guild is spread throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. We changed from Peninsula Glass Guild in 2015, and since then we have made it a goal to connect all the glass lovers in the entire state. The Guild facilitates the sharing of ideas and techniques between artists, as well as creating opportunities for artists to showcase their work together. But we don’t just stop at the glass artist community. We want to connect glass artists with our whole community!
We think everyone should have access to public art. Every year we come together as a Guild to create a public art donation. Sometimes that means we donate tools and supplies to art centers in Virginia, sometimes we create a work of art to donate, and sometimes we host events to help the community make art with us.
Past works include donations to the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, the Empty Bowls Project, The Children's Museum of Virginia, the city of Chesapeake, The Chrysler Museum, The American Theater, Newport News SPCA, the Virginia Living Museum, The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center, the Yorktown Victory Center, the Virginia Medical Center in Richmond, the Virginia Air and Space Center in Hampton, Shelton on the Bay (an Adult Home), the CANDII House, Norfolk, the Holocaust Museum in Richmond, and the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. VGG is always in search of new venues.
